If you are planning or thinking about developing an energy project in Alaska - this session will get-up-to speed on the latest developments that could impact your project. The seminar will focus on federal policy & planning activity, and permit decisions in Alaska, both onshore and offshore. As well, it will examine whether the federal policy, planning, and permit decisions pose a real or perceived threat to your project. The seminar will also explore actions being taken by the state of Alaska in response of the increased federal activity. You can expect to cover the following:
- BOEMRE OCS Lease Sale program cancellation and oil & gas exploration moratorium
- USEPA Environmental Appeals Board denial of Shell OCS air permits
- USACE bridge permit denial in the National Petroleum Reserve - Alaska (NPR-A)
- BLM's Integrated Activity Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (IAP/EIS) in the NPR-A
- Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) continued lockup & USFWS revised comprehensive conservation plan
- The Endangered Species Act, environmental NGO's activity, and the agency resources drain
- Exploring the impact of ESA and Critical Habitat Designations
- Congressional and EPA Climate Change

Wayne Wooster has more than 22 years of environmental experience in the private sector, government, and consulting in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Wayne's experience has focused almost exclusively on natural resource or energy sector activities as a permit writer, inspector, environmental engineer, environmental & regulatory affairs manager, or environmental consultant.

- The importance of obtaining a social licence from local communities and ways to achieve this
- Best practices for consultation
- Criteria required under various regulations with respect to community consultation
- Examining guidelines for a successful outreach program
